City of Cordoba
Information

The city of Córdoba was founded by Don Jerónimo Luis de Cabrera on July 6th, 1573, on the banks of the River Suquía. It is the capital of the province of Córdoba, which is located in the geographical heart of Argentina and in the center of the Bioceanic Corridor that links the ports of Rosario in Santa Fé and of Valparaíso in Chile. It is an inland province, located at 710 Km from Buenos Aires, capital of the Argentine Republic. The Bioceanic Corridor is an integration and development project of the Central Region, which communicates the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean with a east-to-west route. All the possible means of transport are combined in the bioceanic corridor: by river, land, train and air.
The provinces of Mendoza, San Juan, San Luis, Córdoba, Santa Fe and Entre Ríos currently integrate the central region. This initiative seeks to achieve territorial cooperation through the consolidation of interjurisdictional spaces. Also, it allows for international connection.

Geographical location of the city:
The provincial Act No. 1295 of 1893, together with the Municipal rights No. 6548, of January 27th, and No. 7102 of September 14th, both of 1938, state that the Municipal Area of Córdoba is limited by a square of 24 Km each side, which corresponds to the Capital department of the Province. The Capital Department has its boundaries to the north in Department Colón and to the south in Department Santa María.

Length: 64° 11’ W from Greenwich.
Latitude: 31° 24’ South
Altitude: Between 360 and 480 meters above the sea level.

Due to its location, Córdoba is a major junction of national as well as international air and land communications. The city offers nearby access to the main cities in the country and the south cone. Within the Province of Córdoba, and only 30 Km from the city, you can find landscapes with mountains, lakes and rivers.
